How do you help someone who is hyperglycemic

  1. Call emergency services and them you suspect hyperglycemia.
  2. Keep checking the casualty's breathing, pulse and level of response while you wait.
  3. Be prepared that they may become unresponsive and ware of how to treat an unresponsive casualty.

How do you help someone with hypoglycaemic?

  1. Help them to sit down.
  2. either help them to take their own glucose gel, or find them some sweets, 200ml of fruit or fizzy drink or 4 teaspoons of sugar to take (this should be around 20g of glucose check label)
  3. if they improve, find them more sugary food or drink, and let them rest, stay with them until they feel better.
  4. If they don't improve, check for other causes and call emergency services for assistance.
  5. while waiting for help, keep checking their breathing, pulse and level of response.
